Odessa: The Presidential Archives and Leadership Library

Conceived after the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy, the museum contains an intriguing exhibit area showcasing the presidents of the Republic of Texas and separate display boxes dedicated to each U.S. president in chronological order. The displays contain fascinating artifacts and memorabilia such as campaign buttons, coins and printed mementos representing the past 230 years of American history, and the facility’s library holds rare and essential volumes dedicated to past commanders in chief and the U.S. presidency. One of the main draws, however, is the little house standing behind the Library, a humble post-war structure that was home to President George H.W. Bush's family in 1948–49. It was moved from its original location to the museum grounds in 2006.
