Sheffield: Fort Lancaster New Visitor Center Grand Opening

Grand Opening of the Fort Lancaster New Visitor Center, May 20-21, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at Fort Lancaster State Historic Site near Sheffield TX. Held in conjunction with its annual living history event Western Frontier Days. Experience a new exhibit that tells the story of Fort Lancaster from its original construction in 1855, during and after the Civil War, and to the present with historic artifacts, introductory video, images, interpretive panels, scale models of the fort and associated buildings, soldier and laundress stations, original art, and life-sized camel replica (visitors may take photos on the camel's saddle).
